The NSSL does not hold playoffs for all divisions, only for divisions with fewer than 4 Provincial Championship Births. For example, in an NSSL division with 4 Provincial Championship births, the top 4 teams at the end of the regular season (as defined by the determination of standings) will automatically qualify for Provincial Championships. In an NSSL division with only 1 Provincial Championship Birth, the top 4 teams at the end of the regular season (as defined by the determination of standings) will qualify for Playoffs and the results of the NSSL playoffs will determine who qualifies for Provincial Championships.
Any NSSL divisions that have league playoffs will use a 4-team, single knockout format. Regular season standings will determine playoff placement and games will be the following:
Semi-Final #1: 1st Place vs. 4th Place
Semi-Final #2: 2nd Place vs. 3rd Place
Final: Winne of Semi-Final #1 vs. Winner of Semi-Final #2
In divisions with 1 Provincial Championship birth, the winner of the final will qualify.
In divisions with 2 Provincial Championship births, the winner and the finalist will qualify.
