The Nova Scotia Soccer League has adopted a modified competition format for this division to accommodate the teams that have been entered and to provide as much meaningful competition as possible to the participating teams.
The modified format combines all U13 A and B teams into one division and splits the season into two stages.
Stage 1 acts as a seeding stage where all teams play within a regional-based qualifying round in a single round robin format, where teams will play against teams that are geographically close to them. Standings from Stage 1 inform the division placement for Stage 2. Qualification Round games take place in June. All teams will play 4 qualification round games in pools of 5 teams.
Stage 2 acts as the regular season and placement will be based on the standings of the Qualification Round. 5 teams will qualify for U13 Girls A Division and 5 teams will qualify for U13 Girls B Division. Results from stage 1 do not carry over to stage 2. Stage 2 will be considered the regular season and qualification for provincials will come from stage 2. Stage 2 games take place in July and August. All teams play 8 regular season games in divisions of 5 teams.
After the qualifying round games have been played, the top two teams in each qualifying group (based on determination of standings - Section 6 of NSSL Handbook) will qualify for the A division.
The bottom two teams in each division (based on determination of standings- Section 6 of NSSL Handbook) will qualify for the B division. Of the two third-place teams, the team with the better record (based on the determination of standings- Section 6 of NSSL Handbook) will qualify for A division, the team with the worse record qualify for the B division.
