The stage is set for the 2019 NSSL Men’s and Women’s Finals to be held tomorrow Saturday Aug 17th at the Wanderer grounds home of the Halifax Wanderers FC.
Halifax Dunbrack women will be looking to defend their title by taking on UDFC at the women’s final starting at 3pm. Dunbrack seeded #1 advanced by defeating Highland FC seeded #4 in a very close match 1-0. Jenna Boudreau scored the game’s only goal at 48 minutes, with Ashley Blank getting the shutout. Dunbrack played the last 35 minutes of the game a player short as one of their player was red carded.
UDFC Women the #3 seed advanced to the final by upsetting the #2 seed Valley United 2-0 on the strength of two second half goals by Meghan Earle and Kinsella Noseworthy-Smith . Haley Kardas provided the shutout.
On the men’s side Western Halifax will meet UDFC for the title starting at 5:30 pm. Western Halifax #2 seed, defeated number #3 seed Halifax City 2-0 to advance. Wesley Hawley scored in the first half and Joe Iatrou in the second with Ben Ur earning the shutout.
UDFC men ,#1 seed on the strength of two first half goals by Cohen Reddick-Stevens and Graham Ashworth and shutout goaltending Jensen Brown defeated # 4 seed Valley United 2-0 to advance to the final.
The winners of the finals will advance to the Senior Men’s and Women’s Championships in Newfoundland Oct 9-14, 2019
